ABOUT THE GEORGETOWN VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company was organized in May of 1928 by a group of citizens who realized the need for fire protection in the community. Today, the men and women of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company are just as dedicated to the preservation of life and property as those who started this organization. In 2020, the Company responded to 766 emergency calls.

The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company is unique. We have maintained our small town attitudes while combining them with state-of the art fire and EMS equipment. From our seventy foot aerial tower truck to our 2022 Type I ambulance, we are equipped to handle all emergencies that come our way.

- Past Chief, Mike Heibeck

Our jobs today include not only firefighting, fire prevention and emergency medical service, but hazardous material situations, vehicle extrication, rope and cold water rescue, just to name a few.

During the past year, we were fortunate to have ten new members join our ranks. Many of these new members have already successfully completed training as Emergency Medical Technicians or Firefighters and some have joined as Auxiliary members to support our department in a multitude of ways. Each have become an integral part of our department.

If you aren’t interested in responding to emergencies, that's OK! Share your talents and skills to help make our department stronger by becoming an Auxiliary member. We are always looking for volunteers with backgrounds in graphics & website design, mechanical repair, finance & accounting, construction, event coordination, grant writing, and more.

We are looking for Volunteers!

Our members are mechanics, police officers, stockbrokers, teachers, students, and local business owners, and each is also a dedicated volunteer committed to the health, safety and welfare of the people in our community. BECOME A VOLUNTEER TODAY!

Anyone interested in joining the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company can email info@gtownfire.org or stop by the firehouse any Monday evening between 7 – 9 pm (excluding holidays).
